Metal Detecting (former) US ARMY Training Area
It's time for something different. A metal detecting adventure from a former US military training area. Usually I don't know what to expect from a spot. This was an exception - I knew I will find bullets! Lots of them. The spot was located "near" a shooting range (actually in the line of fire). Behind every shooting range there are bullets. I was hoping that an area like this wasn't hunted much... I may come back to this place in the future.

A Day in the Life # 172 Metal Detecting: It's Getting Pretty Thin.
On this Day in the Life, I head out for a long, but rather unproductive day of metal detecting. It really is getting pretty thin at this site and I need to move on to some other sites, but I figured I would give it one more go before the grass got to high to hunt. I was able to turn up a few relics though, and all in all it was a beautiful Day in the Life.

Metal Detecting Canada- The cellar hole search
I use Google Earth alot when researching old sites to metal detect. I just pan around my local area and look for some potential sites and sometimes I get lucky. This was one of those times! Using the aerial view, I was able to see a slight but defined square in a clearing in the woods. I hiked the better part of a mile before I came across a nice mid 1800s site. A house and barn foundation and what I believe is the privy. There's lots of land, so this could be a good one! Just a heads up guys, when I came out of the woods, I had 3 deer ticks crawling on me. They are going to be bad this year!!

Yes, I started making DOUGH...I forgot I was planning on roasting peanuts. So that was a good start. At least when I got there the soil was fairly dry, weird eh?
That pointed thing at the end - found two now - any ideas? Other than that nothing special, are these buttons ten-a-penny aye?
